What we are getting [...] is not an epic life but one that, like every other life, is utterly ordinary — and yet, that is where its epic stature resides.

Clear and quick, these childhood anecdotes are riveting in spite of occasionally repetitious wording. If Knausgaard keeps this up, the series' final three volumes will be fit for devouring.

This writer is constructing a towering edifice, in what feels like real time. Few artistic projects of our era feel more worth attending to.
